My Favorite Bible verses and some thoughts:
"And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose." ~ Romans 8:28 (EVS - emphasis mine)
- God is 100% sovereign over all - ALL! If He does not rule all nor has complete sovereignty, then something else does. If Christ Jesus does not rule all, something or someone else has some control over this world, our lives, my family's life, and my salvation, and me. BUT the Bible clearly reassures us that Jesus does rule over all! What other comfort is there? None.
"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it."
~ I Corinthians 10:13
- Since our Savior is completly sovereign and almighty, I have confidence in Him. Confidence that even though I am sinful and tempted into Sin and sins, He will sustain, support, encourage, and guard me! He will not let sin nor temptation be too much for me. As the old saying goes, "He does not call the equipped, but equips the called." Truly He hems us in behind and before!
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
~ I John 1:9
- I am, however, still a wretched, sinful man. I sin. I choose to sin. In fact, I usually still love my sin. My Sin pulls me constantly to rebel against my Creator and Savior, and I commit sins. God knows that. This is why Christ came...to wipe away my Sin and sins, to purify me as pure as the fresh snow. Not only are the sins I commit not counted against me, but my sinful nature itself is cleansed! And I recieve the credit and record of a perfect Human - even Jesus Himself! His righteousness is now mine, freely given to me by my Father in Heaven.
"I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice He judges and makes war...On His robe and on His thigh He has this name written:
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS."
~ Revelation 19:11 & 16
- Who will deliver me from this body of sin and death? Thanks be to God, it is through our Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST. When the end of time comes, my King will come and complete His work that He has started. He will defeat and capture Sin and Death and Hell and rid them from His creation. He is, and always will be the KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS! To the glory of the Father in heaven, Jesus, His Son, and the Holy Spirit. Come, Lord Jesus!
Why I am excited to be at DMC:
I can teach that God rules all. We, His covenant people, are His servants accomplishing His will. We are a part of His mighty plan. And His will shall be done. When hardships come, I can explicitly teach about the comfort that only God gives. When joyful times of celebration are at hand, we can truly celebrate and be thankful to someone - our God.
"I serve a risen Savior, He's in the world today." His glory is all around us...I get to teach and show kids that.
